Melissa x Viktor & Rolf's Haute Fantasie
Last season's introductory collaboration with Paris couturiers Viktor & Rolf made history in being the first time that Melissa has shown its collection as part of a legit Paris couture collection. After months of secrecy and speculation, the couturiers showed a new style - The Possession Lace - which takes the DNA of one of Melissa's most iconic styles, and patchworked it with 3D lace and doilies for a dramatic, daring and rather fabulous effect that works perfectly for everyday.
The secret? Well of course each shoe is made from 100% recyclable vegan Melflex, of course.
The collection was such a hit internationally, that the daring duo once again reincarnated the style a second time for their latest collection, along with the sold-out Lace Bag, in a number of bold and fashion-forward hues. Where last season was all about soft pinks and whites, this season is about bold greens, ecstatic pinks and transparent browns speckled with rice husks. And shimmering silver and gold.
New, also, was the Coturno boot - a lace-up combat boot made entirely of Melflex, which was shown extensively during the Paris fashion show. Every single outfit was shown with a pair of bold boots, which came in glitter with pink soles; transparent; brown with rice husks and a green sole; pink with a black sole; or tone-on-tone blue. Because of the nature of Melissa, the couturiers were allowed to experiment with materials like full silver glitter to make shoes nobody had ever dreamed of before.
Both strictly urban and effortlessly feminine, this collection of boots is what we like to call Plastic Couture, and fitted perfectly into the "Haute Fantasie" theme of elegantly wasted raver couture. Melissa is and always will be disruptive (its in its DNA) and at the head of the avant-garde, and with this gorgeous collection it moves onto the next level.
But what we do we love most about it? It's sense of glam and fun.
Enjoy the show!
